Americas Community Center in Washington, DC
Fabio A. Andrade Joins the Call for Immigration Reform at the Press Conference for the Dignity Act
Today in Washington, D.C., Americas Community Center Founder Fabio A. Andrade joined Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar and a group of supporters at a press conference in support of the Dignity Act, a bipartisan immigration reform bill aimed at strengthening border security while creating a fair and earned path to legal status for long-term undocumented immigrants.

As a Colombian immigrant and long-standing advocate for the Hispanic community in South Florida, Andrade shared powerful reflections on the need for structured, humane reform that recognizes the immense contributions of hardworking, law-abiding immigrants—those who are part of the American story, helping to build communities, grow small businesses, and strengthen the economy.

“This is not just about policy; it’s about people,” Andrade said. “It’s about protecting the values of opportunity and freedom that make this country great, while ensuring that immigration remains orderly, secure, and just.”
During his time at the Capitol, Andrade was reminded of the words of President Ronald Reagan, who once said:
“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”
This quote deeply resonates with the work of Americas Community Center. It reminds us that freedom is fragile—and it must be actively protected, practiced, and passed down. Every generation has a responsibility to uphold the rights, liberties, and democratic values that define a free society. They can be lost quickly if not defended.
President Reagan’s words serve as a powerful reminder that freedom doesn’t come from government—it comes from the people. It’s preserved only when citizens remain engaged: through voting, civic involvement, advocacy, and by teaching the next generation what freedom means and how to protect it.

At Americas Community Center, we believe bipartisan efforts like the Dignity Act are essential to creating real solutions. We are proud that our founder continues to be a voice for immigrant families and for reforms that balance compassion with security and reflect the dignity of all people.
We will continue to advocate, educate, and empower—because when we stand together, we build a future rooted in freedom, dignity, and hope.
