Americas Kids Lead the Pledge at Weston City Hall

This week, a group of Americas Community Center kids were invited to the City of Weston City Hall to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

The experience gave them the opportunity to step into a civic setting and understand, in a real way, how local government functions. Standing in the commission chambers, they were able to see where decisions are made and how community leadership operates.

During the visit, the group also had the chance to connect with the City Manager Don Decker, Mayor Peggy Brown, and Commissioner Fabio A. Andrade. These interactions allowed the kids to ask questions, engage directly with local leaders, and better understand the role each person plays in serving the community.

Opportunities like this are an important part of youth development. They help build awareness, confidence, and a sense of connection to the city they are growing up in.

At Americas Community Center, creating access to these types of experiences is part of the ongoing effort to expose youth to leadership, service, and community involvement at an early age.

About Americas Kids Club

Americas Kids Club is made up of the children of our volunteers—families who are already actively involved in the work of Americas Community Center.

As their parents give their time to support events and programs, their kids are right there with them—participating, helping, and growing up in an environment centered around community and service. Through family-friendly events, they are naturally exposed to what it means to show up, contribute, and be part of something bigger.

The Kids Club isn’t a formal program with meetings or requirements. It’s an extension of who we are as an organization—creating spaces where families can be involved together, and where kids learn by being present, engaged, and included.
