ABN Questions & Answers
What is Americas Business Networking (ABN)?
Americas Business Networking (ABN) is a community-based networking program created by Americas Community Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. ABN exists to support local business owners, create meaningful connections, and foster collaboration within our community.
ABN is one of several programs operated by Americas Community Center and is designed specifically to help business owners grow through relationships, referrals, and visibility.
How did Americas Business Networking (ABN) start?
Americas Community Center was founded to support immigrants and families arriving in the U.S. seeking community, guidance, and opportunity.
As the nonprofit grew, we recognized that many business professionals arriving from other countries faced unique challenges:
-
Limited local connections
-
Unfamiliar business culture
-
Language barriers
-
Lack of access to professional networks
Americas Business Networking (ABN) was created to provide a safe, welcoming platform where business professionals could connect, build relationships, exchange referrals, and grow together—while learning how networking works in the U.S.
What language are the ABN meetings conducted in?
Americas Community Center is a Spanish-based nonprofit focused on supporting the Latin community. As a result, approximately 90% of ABN participants are bilingual and/or Hispanic.
-
ABN Weston meetings (Wednesday mornings) are conducted in English
This provides a supportive environment for newcomers or professionals who are still developing their English business communication skills. The group is welcoming, patient, and encouraging. -
ABN Doral meetings (Thursday mornings) are conducted in Spanish
Both chapters are inclusive and designed to help participants grow professionally and confidently.
Is ABN a membership-based organization?
No. ABN is not a membership-based group.
There is no requirement to join or commit long-term in order to participate. However, we do offer optional participation packages that provide cost savings, increased visibility, and added benefits for those who attend consistently.
Participants may attend weekly, monthly, or seasonally—whatever fits their business needs.
Why does ABN offer packages if it’s not membership-based?
The packages are designed to:
-
Reward consistency
-
Reduce per-meeting costs
-
Offer presentation and promotion opportunities
-
Help sustain ABN as a nonprofit program
Packages are optional and meant to provide flexibility while keeping ABN accessible to all.
What types of businesses can participate in ABN?
ABN welcomes:
-
Local business owners
-
Entrepreneurs
-
Service providers
-
Professionals across multiple industries
Our goal is to build a diverse, collaborative environment where participants complement, not compete.
How do referrals and connections work at ABN?
ABN is a connection-based network, not a guarantee of business.
-
We encourage introductions, referrals, and one-to-one meetings.
-
Each participant is responsible for following up and building relationships.
-
All participants are expected to do their own due diligence before entering into any business relationship.
Americas Community Center provides the space to connect, but does not endorse, vet, or guarantee services provided by participants.
What does “business done” mean at ABN?
“Business done” refers to business generated as a result of ABN connections. This may include:
-
Direct referrals
-
Collaborations
-
Partnerships
-
Services contracted between participants
These numbers are self-reported and used to track impact, not obligation.
